When building a campaign for your business; your aim is to get customers that will pay for

  1. the expenses you incurred in providing your product and
  2. for the profits, you hope to get from providing your service

However; the easiest hack to do this; is the use of “lead magnets”.

A popular sample of a lead magnet is the ‘tasting’- often demanded from the “Suya Seller”

“The Suya- a roadside meal made of smoked preserved beef, skewed & barbecued on coal is a popular street food in Nigeria.

Most of the time when you approach these sellers, the first thing they do when you arrive is to give you some taste of their meat, while they attend to you.

This is often to show you the quality of their product, but it also does one thing..

It pushes the conviction to buy into your heart..,

even if you found out after tasting it, that it’s not that great, you’ll feel bad if you have to never buy at all.

In such rare cases (99% of the time, the suya tastes wonderful)-, you simply end up buying in very little quantities instead of not buying at all- and you do that, because of the lead magnet or freebie you got.”

A lead magnet is a marketing term for a free item or service that is given away for the purpose of gathering contact details;

for example, lead magnets can be

  • trial subscriptions,
  • free samples,
  • white papers,
  • e-newsletters,
  • and free consultations.

Marketers use lead magnets to create leads or collect the contact information of interested potential customers

and then they try to convert these people into sales along the line.

THE MISTAKE MOST NEWBIE MARKETERS MAKE

The biggest mistake newbie marketers or businesses trying to sell online do is that they are trying to get sales using the old models of shops & markets; where they hope the customer just comes directly to their store, directly brings out their card and swipes to make a purchase immediately.

Since it’s an online space; and the customer has no physical connection to your brand; they more likely will require some more convincing and this often requires a relationship built first.

A model known as the

-Know -(customer needs to know you first)

-Like and

-Trust model

(KLT Model)-

(more details on this will be shared in later articles)

HOW DO YOU CREATE LEAD MAGNETS 🧲

The most important parts of a lead magnet is

  1. What is the relevance of the lead magnet to the ideal customer- for your brand- does your lead magnet scratch an itch, does it solve a problem or does it provide answers to some questions your ideal customer is asking?
  2. What is the relevance of that type of customer to the offer you’re putting out?

The aim of the lead magnet 🧲 is often to gain the contacts of the customers and get them to buy the product along the lines of your relationship

For example:

  1. If you’re a customer; with an interest in learning how to earn in foreign currencies through Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing

Here is an example of a PDF book/guide that was created and will introduce you to the “write without writing formula”- where you can create publications under 48 hours.

Another example of a lead magnet:

Is this video I watched that helped me make $600 in October… it’s an introductory video to a program that allows you to earn between $1,000 — $5,000 monthly while working for foreign clients

The video, that you can access here is an example of a lead magnet too

IN SUMMARY

The free pdf book/guide is a lead magnet for anyone interested in doing Amazon KDP

While the free class video is also a lead magnet to anyone interested in offering their skills online🧲.

(Please Note: Both categories of lead magnets I used as examples are for people who are interested in the “MAKING MONEY ONLINE” niche)

You need to sit back and think of the niche and interest of your potential customers, before creating your lead magnet.
